Project3713 is pleased to inform our supporters that the Steamtown National Historic Site has contracted with the Strasburg Rail Road to build a new firebox for Boston & Maine #3713. This is a major advancement towards the full operational restoration of the locomotive. The news was covered by TRAINS magazine today.
In addition to the firebox news, work continues on the new cab, new tender cistern, tender frame, driving wheels and multiple appliances. Railfest 2018 visitors will be able to see the public debut of the cab at Steamtown during Labor Day Weekend.
